"Writing is my therapy, my heart reaching out. Love is the ink that runs through my veins and out my fingertips with pen in hand. I find it so amazing to have a thought, start writing and the words just start to flow and cover the page. Writing is an emotionally rewarding art form that takes me where I want to be. I have always been intrigued by the artistry and culture of such

far away places as Morocco, Algiers, India, Egypt and China, to name a few. My goal is for you to experience the mystique of

Orientalism through a westerner's eye. I hope you will enjoy my anthology I Yearn For You My Sultan and will look for my upcoming works."

S.C. Suber's interest in Eastern cultures started at a very early age from exotic family stories told from her grandfather Marius, that had joined the French Foreign Legion, after having lost his true love to another, only to be reunited again years later; from her Austrian-Italian father Giuseppe as a soldier in orthern Africa and the Sahara desert ; to her two French uncles Francis and Claude who had spent time in Morocco and Algiers as French soldiers. Arabian themed movies inspired by stories such as Scheherazade and 1,001 Nights, and rich Orientalist paintings were very much of interest in her growing years. As an adult she toyed with belly-dancing classes with its mesmerizing music and colorful enhancements. A must see was "The Shiek" with Rudolph Valentino on video.

Hidden

Secretly, opening my journals,

it is with trepidation that you begin to ponder

over what is being revealed.

Word by word,

unraveling the mystery

that lies in fearful expectation

of being exposed,

stripped naked before you.

Slowly,

your eyes peer deeply from left to right

across the page,

uncovering more than what lies

beneath the surface.

What has now become visible to your eyes

is what is contained deep within me.

Surprisingly,

a tear drops onto the paper before you,

for I have touched your heart.

It is my inner self that so intensely desires

to touch you.

The being that has remained deeply concealed,

so earnestly craves

to move

your own inward emotions.
